Why Tearing Out the Dam Doesn't Work
Beavers are triggered by the sound and feel of running water — a breached dam is a repair order, not an eviction notice. Property owners who pull dams apart typically find them rebuilt within days, sometimes overnight, and the beavers often rebuild bigger.
Effective beaver control works in the right order: remove the resident animals first, then remove or breach the dam, then protect the vulnerable points — culvert guards, pond levelers, and wire wrapping for high-value trees — so the next dispersing beaver that swims through doesn't restart the cycle.
